10 Encouraging Bible Verses About Patience That Will Help You Wait On God
Confession time. I am not really good at waiting. I’m just not.
I’m horrible at waiting. How about you? I am not really sure why– maybe because Americans are culturally pre-disposed to do everything fast. Perhaps it is because I don’t want to be late. I have a sneaking suspicion though that I am always in a hurry because if I slow down to a saunter… I will fall asleep. This exhausted Mama will face plant, spread eagle, and start snoring at a moment’s notice.
It seems we always wanting to go, go, go! Get things done. Go faster. Do more.
But when we’re at our most frantic pace ever, God says, “Wait a second. Slow down a little bit.”
We hate waiting. We hate going slow. When something is going slow, it is easy to attribute the waiting to laziness or inactivity or passive aggressiveness. But did you know that waiting can also mean hoping?
We’re waiting with expectations? Hoping and expecting and waiting to see what God is going to do. Well, that’s a different way to look at it.

It’s the same thing with our spirits. So, if you’re in a period of waiting, take heart. God is likely refining and refueling you, so that you can be strong for what lies ahead.

- How do you respond to God when you have a period of waiting?
- How can you trust in God’s plan even in the middle of your suffering, and how can you use that suffering to be a blessing to others?
- What are some things, both in your family family and your church family, what are some things that you have found that you’ve had to be patient with others on? What are some things that you could have let become wedges between you and other people that you care about?
- and tell us an area of your life that maybe you need to stop trying to control, and just wait on the Lord and be patient.
- Have a longer fuse and maybe identify some triggers that would help us identify when we’re not being patient with others.
